Amazing stay
Pros: Beautiful property with very friendly staff. I was solo traveling and for me it was a perfect place to chill and relax. The food was good, beach is beautiful and the manager William did me a huge and kind favor. I stayed for three nights but could’ve stayed longer.

Pros: Hotel Islabela is the absolute best hotel you can stay on the Rosario Islands. Their private beach is so quiet, serene and beautiful and their public beach is an absolute blast. Total good times, music, turquoise ocean water, soft sand, amazing drinks, cold beers, great food and just a wonderful small island atmosphere and chill vibe. We did a snorkeling tour with Hotel Islabela which was totally amazing, beautiful and very reasonable. The tour guides are top notch. The grounds of the hotel are meticulously maintained and beautiful. The best part of the stay were the people. Hotel Islabela team are the best. William the hotel manager truly makes your welcome and stay here unforgettable with his warm smile and friendly service, He and Francesco, Roya and all the other staff here go out of their way to make your vacation truly a wonderful life experience. We will be back!

Lovely stay overall with beautiful beaches and good food.
Pros: Beautiful island and the cabin we had was with sea views which was amazing to wake up to. We had a private front area and entrance to the water. The hotel is eco conscious and rustic, in line with the local style. In fact, it’s owned by the locals which seems like a good cause to boost local growth and economy. The food was pretty good and there was good variety to not get bored of the same. It’s very common for the hotels on Rosario Islands to do day trips which we were worried about in terms of numbers of people and noise but there is a separate quiet beach for people who stay overnight which was very appreciated. Also there’s only a limited number of people staying at the hotel so it’s very quiet, there’s plenty of space on the beaches and it’s very peaceful. Feels luxurious to have all this space to yourself and be on a quiet beach.
Cons: The service was slow, it would take 30-40 minutes to get our breakfast from ordering. It was rather confusing when there’s only up to 10 people at the restaurant waiting for food and it’s just some eggs, arepas and a sausage. The staff was a bit strange and unwelcoming. They barely smiled or said anything and if you were asking a question they would not be very helpful to respond and guide you. The hotel says 98% of the staff are locals from the island so not sure if there is some sort of resentment towards tourists cause the interactions were just a bit odd. The room had a foul smell from the shower drain / toilet water system.

Beautiful island stay, quiet and remote
Pros: We had an excellent time on the island - absolutely beautiful beach and water, free to use kayak, and the loveliest staff. We really felt immersed in the small community and the sunset walk to the other side of the island is absolutely not to miss!
Cons: We had quite a bit of trouble getting to the island, didn’t feel it was super clear that there was a boat provided by the hotel as the communication wasn’t great about this - so we got a private transfer instead. Would also say that the island is VERY small, you will be eating at the hotel every meal etc.

Lovely stay!
Pros: We had a lovely stay in Islabela. The journey itself took about 1.5 hours from Cartagena so it is a bit further away than some of the other islands, but we thought it was worth it. The hotel is beautiful, very quiet and relaxing. The private beach and beds are great for chilling during the day away from the day trips. Our room (Andry) was lovely and rustic, as you would expect from a beach property. The staff were lovely and the manager William was very welcoming. We did snorkelling which was very fun and walked around the island a bit. Great stay overall.
Cons: The food and cocktail options could be expanded slightly to include more. The service at times was a bit slow and our order for drinks was forgotten a couple of times (I think once during someone's change of shift). Really didn't take away from our experience however and we would recommend overall.
