San Felicin Hostel

Excellent place for the cost you pay in a tourist city

Pros: Overall this place is excellent. The location is fantastic. A few steps from the fort. No more than a ten minute walk to the walls of the old city. Five minutes down the street , a shopping mall with a full food court and a real supermarket. No issues with the room. Everything you need. You don't need to pay the inflated prices to actually stay in the center of the old city when you could just stay a few minutes away. I ended up staying four nights. Two more on top of my original booking.

Cons: I don't like that some of the reviews that statef that it's a dangerous or dodgy area. Outside it looks a little rough because the street's not in perfect condition. However, I never noticed anyone roaming around at night. Never felt uncomfortable coming back at night. I just think it's exaggerated a little bit.

A pleasant, budget hostel close to the fort.

Pros: It’s a pleasant, budget hostel with kind staff located just under the fortress and a short walk into the old city. It has a great terrace overlooking the fort where breakfast is served and a bar and cafe run at busy times. My double room had good aircon and a pleasant bathroom.

Cons: It’s on a very busy road in a somewhat derelict neighbourhood. However, once inside the building you don’t really notice.

Pros: Friendly helpful staff. Comfortable with good air con. Good value for money.

Cons: I didn't feel super safe walking over the bridge at night from the old town, but I would just get a cab. And I think the location is reflected in the price.

A nice stay. A short walk into Getsemaní across the bridge . Felt pretty safe

Pros: Lovely staff. Large rooms. Good shower. Wonderful terrace.

Cons: WiFi a bit unstable. Food only served in the evenings on certain days ... So kitchen would be nice

A great hotel with awesome staff

Pros: This is a great pequeño hotel. The staff are all so friendly and helpful. Nothing was a problem, they were always so happy to help. I asked to switch rooms because I’d been sleeping badly (not because of the hotel; just randomly) and my first room was close to reception so was a bit noisy at night. They gladly moved me to another room, which was perfect. Hearing the housekeepers singing as they worked was so sweet. Super clean, comfortable, great breakfast, colourful, awesome rooftop views…

Cons: The immediate location around the hotel isn’t the best. It’s really not a problem; it’s super close to La ciudad amurallada and Getsemaní. Take an Uber there/back at night.

Pros: Staff are lovely and helpful, good breakfast rooftop terrace with views over Cartegena

Cons: Area salubrious but not really and issue as taxis very cheap and not a problem during the day

Pros: Clean rooms, cold aircon, good breakfast included. Not too far to walk to the old town

Cartagena gem

Pros: Really friendly staff, nice rooms, great location (felt super safe despite other reviews we'd read). Breakfast was varied most days. We ended up extending and stayed 6 nights.
