Pros: Hotel Monterrey in Cartagena exceeded every expectation we had. Our room came with a stunning, panoramic view from the balcony. truly one of the highlights of our stay. Waking up to the sweeping sights of Cartagena felt like a dream. The service was exceptional from beginning to end. Every staff member we encountered was warm, attentive, and genuinely committed to making our stay special. The overall experience was smooth, comfortable, and incredibly welcoming. The location is unbeatable. Sitting just outside the walled city, it’s only a short and easy walk to all the charm, history, and energy of Cartagena’s most iconic area. Considering the prime location and the quality of the experience, the value for the price is outstanding.

Great hotel with fantastic roof top terrace, bar and pool
Pros: Fantastic roof top terrace, pool and bar with a great view over the old town and square. Super location between old town and Getsemani. Friendly and accommodating staff. Beautiful old colonial style building. And: the best shower we had in Colombia!

Pleasant, old hotel in great location
Pros: The location was perfect for us as we are not beach people. Our room looked out over the big plaza and was perfect for viewing the NYE fireworks. The hotel is very pretty on the outside. The pool and sundeck were very nice. All of the staff were pleasant and nice. The bed was very comfortable. Access to walled city and Getsemane was perfect. Easy to get a taxi to go to the beach areas.
Cons: Unfortunately, the hot water in shower was sporadic. The breakfast was very basic. The room could use a little paint touch up on walls and wardrobe.

Hidden gem
Pros: I stayed at this hotel a few years ago, same great service. Old beautiful building, in my opinion the best view of the old town, across the ClockTower. The roof-bar and piscina area is the best place to contemplate the sunset. Don't expect brand new rooms/bathroom as the hotel has been running for over 50 years, but everything is spotless and very well maintained. Christian, Angel, Wilmer, and all staff members were above and beyond to make our stay better than we expected. Great job!

Pros: This place was amazing! We just had a standard room and they upgraded us to a beautiful, sky hight ceilings with a balcony over looking Cartagena old town. The staff were great, they spoke great english, the rooftop patio and pool were incredible, the park right next door has monkeys and sloths and big igunas!! Breakfast was a full spread, can't say enough good things about this place!

Pros: This place checks (almost) all boxes and the property itself is a beautiful mansion! Definitely my first stop when I return.
Cons: Breakfast can definitely use an uplift. The rooftop bar can be much better used - there was nobody at the counter when we were there. Considering the view, you are wasting an opportunity there.
