Beautiful island retreat

Pros: The place is gorgeous and lends itself both for active leisure (kayaking, swimming, visiting sights) and relaxing times (reading on the many hammocks, contemplating the gorgeous sunset whilst swinging on colourful rocking chairs). They were super accommodating and booked us a trip to see the bioluminescent plankton at 4am (one of the most incredible nature experiences of my life). Food is more than serviceable (pricier than inland — but you're on an island so it makes sense!). There's 3 beautiful cats roaming around...which is always a plus for me. I was there for a night at the beginning of May and there was only another couple staying, so the place felt like a quiet dream! Watching all kinds of birds, fish and crabs in their environment was such a joy.

Cons: The room setup is quite austere. The shower curtain rail was held by a screw that fell off while I was there and there was no 'holder' for the towel or much space to put one's toiletries (mine were on top of the toilet sink). The shower is just an exposed pipe with limited pressure, which makes sense cus water is scarce. But it would just be so easy to add a water-saving shower head. The bed was incredibly comfy and clean, but there was no bedside table or reading lamp...which makes it difficult for nerds like me who like to read at night. So I used my phone. The windows have no glass, just curtains...which makes sense considering the risk of the wind shattering them — and it makes the room really fresh...but when I came out of the bathroom to get clothed,, with the curtains blowing in the breeze, and people chilling by my window cus theres a table and hammock there...it got a bit risqué! Some sort of wooden shutters would be easy to install. I think fixing very small things would make this place just *excellent*. I'd still recommend it, though.

Tranquil and peaceful!

Pros: Lovely and secluded hotel on the Tintipan Island. Great chance to switch off and relax after travelling Colombia. The food cooked by the owner and his family was always so yummy too!

À lovely break from the world

Pros: Ouf room and waking to the sunrise through one doorway and sitting on the balcony to watch the sunset from the other. Hearing the waves lapping both sides of the room. Snorkeling around the hotel. Everything was kept beautifully clean. Staff were friendly and efficient. The best gin and tonic ever from Wilbur.

Cons: Extremely uncomfortable chairs in the restaurant and sunloungers. The snorkel out on the coral reef was a disappointment. Dead coral and very few fish. We hadn’t réaliser we could not walk anywhere else on the island so felt a bit limited. The kayak was good though!

Pros: The location is perfect for those seeking a calm break. Surounded by the sea and isolated by the mangrove. Alfredo and his team did everything to make our stay unforgetable. Local fishermen brought their fresh catch every day and Jaime cooked delicious dishes with it. Wilmur was always a step ahead in helping us in every way and made everything seem effortless. Our night trip with Luiz to the phosphorescent lagoon was magical.

Cons: We arrived from Rincon del Mar in a small boat on a rough sea. The boat was swamped and all our belongings were soaked. It felt like arriving in Paradise after going through hell.

Exclusive and relaxing stay in Tintipán

Pros: Recommended experience to disconnect watching breath-taking sunsets on a remote island. Nice staff. Good juices and cocktails. It's a quiet area.

Cons: The premises are kind of basic but fine for one or two nights. Watch out, mosquitos!

Excellent staff!

Pros: The location is wonderful, the staff are amazing and very kind, the food is delicious and made to order. A lot of possibilities for excursions.

Cons: Since there’s no windows, there’s a LOT of bugs in the room and bathroom and not all beds had mosquito nets. The rooms are basically on the sea and there was a storm at night so we couldn’t sleep well due to the loud waves.

A corner of paradise

Pros: This place is in the middle of paradise. The facilities are comfortable - especially considering the location - and clean. Staff is very nice and food is also amazing - fish is caught every morning and cooked at night. The hotel only has a few rooms and you’ll have this paradise all for yourself. They also offer some tours and help finding the right means of transportation to get to the island.

Cons: Island is not walkable so you have to stay in the hotel, where everything shuts at 9pm. Food and transportation are very expensive, which is understandable considering the remote location but still something to consider. We only did one night, we would recommend doing two.

Exceptional ✨

Pros: Many thanks to Alfredo, who manages a lovely crew on this beautiful island refuge. Punta Norte is quiet, colourful and clean. The women run the kitchen and prepare fresh fish and seafood. Aspiring marine biologist Miguel took us for an excursion to see jellyfish in a laguna nearby, a snorkeling trip we loved. Waking up from the sound of the waves every morning and taking a swim before breakfast ... We had a wonderful time.
