Hotel Villa Alta Guest House

Highly recommend.

Pros: Villa Alta is a beautiful house. Rooms are on 2 floors. Our balcony looked straight into the Iglesia Santa Domingo. Stunning location. Breakfast brought to our room. A very efficient way to interact through WhatsApp, although there is also a receptionist at all times.

Genuinely lovely place to stay, but I wouldn’t book this for the breakfast.

Pros: Great location and very spacious. The room was really clean and the bed very comfortable. It’s nice that breakfast is delivered to the room at a time that best suits.

Cons: The breakfast included was not good at all and not worth it. The pictures didn’t match the images, there was no salt, and we even received food we hadn’t ordered. It also may have been nice to have coffee pods in the room for the Nespresso machine.

Pros: Only stayed for one night but great location and nice staff. Breakfast is average

Great value and friendly, helpful staff.

Pros: The staff was very helpful and friendly. Both early check-in and late checkout were approved. Rooms are large and clean with coffee makers, extra sink, and fridge. Fast, free wi-fi and good breakfast which is ordered the night before and delivered to your room at the time you select. Great value for a hotel in the old town. I highly recommend it!

Cons: No elevator, so be prepared to walk up to the rooms which are all on the second floor.

Highly recommend this adult only hotel.

Pros: The location was amazing. It was so close to where we were attending a wedding and with the benefit of hearing the beautiful music from the cathedral

Cons: The stairs were steep, but we coped. A few more towel rails in the bathroom would have been handy

Pros: Really nice place! Directly in the center, lovely room. Staff is amazing.

Cons: There is a lot of noise, you can sometimes hear the room next to you and outside, but you are in the center so it is inevitable. There is also not so much light, but that comes with the building, it didn’t bother us.

Funky apartments in great location, the balcony is perfect for people watching.

Pros: The location in the heart of the old city overlooking the cathedral was amazing - my balcony was practically in the naves. The room was very comfortable and the kitchen was good for small snacks or drinks. People watching from the balcony was lovely and there were two parrots in the cathedral wall 🦜🦜 opposite . the staff were lovely and the breakfast amazing, the woman preparing it was great. They also organised a lovely reliable taxi guy for me to go to baru which worked really well and I’d thoroughly recommend him, his safe driving and his car.The cathedral is noisy but it’s atmospheric and you are in the centre of the action whilst in your room.

Cons: The kitchen equipment is more for cocktails or drinks not preparing food - but that’s fine because the city’s restaurants are just close by.

Nice and cozy.

Pros: Great location. Nice breakfast. Very nice staff. The hotel has character. I would stay there again, no doubt.

Cons: The bed was too high. The night tables were too low (compared to the bed) and very small. The room was a bit dark, but that's ok. In the morning, there was a bit of noise coming from the kitchen (like cutlery and pots).

Beautiful hotel in the historic city center

Pros: Super well located at the heart of the historic city center. The staff was super nice and good communication. The rooms are absolutely stunning, very beautiful design, new and comfortable.

Cons: I read in some previous reviews about the noise, it can get a bit noisy BUT it’s the price you pay for being in the city center. During the week is better than Friday/ Saturday night. For us it was not a major problem and would absolutely come back in spite of this.

Pros: It's a beautiful place to stay in Cartagena. In the heart of the city. The staff are very kind and helpful. Perfect for a couple.
