GHL San Lazaro Art Hotel

Good hotel in great location

Pros: Good breakfast, comfy beds, nice small pool (but only 2 sunbeds), great views, friendly staff and good location. We enjoyed our stay here.

Cons: The hotel is a bit tired - we had a leaking air con unit and very dirty windows. New carpet was being laid in the corridors whilst we were there.

Excellent experience.

Pros: Breakfast with view to fortress, can be taken in terrace. Big, confortable room. Friendly staff.

Cons: Shower had leaking problem and flooded the floor of the bathroom and even the room.

Great place

Pros: Great location, the swimming pool in front of the fort is amazing. It is only a 10/15 minute walk to the historical central. We arrived extremely early (9am) and they checked us in at no additional cost. We also got an upgrade as the room we had booked had some issues! The staff was lovely and always available. We were able to leave our bags after checkout too. The breakfast was lovely too. Would stay here again!

Pros: Nice breakfast, refreshing pool after long day, nice view of the castle, very attentive service, nice rooms.

Cons: Nachos (awful, avoid), no one seemed to have change for large bills, unreliable transportation services.

Good hotel in need of refurbishment...

Pros: Really sweet and friendly staff and a nice (little) pool with view to Castillo de San Felipe and walking distances to the city (20 min). Big rooms and bathrooms with marble flooring. We however always took a taxi which was 15.000 COP (3 EUR), and after dark for safety you should definitely take a taxi. Breakfast was OK, but nothing great (no toasting machine, artificial juice, no bacon/sausage every day, etc).

Cons: Once definitely a classy hotel, however badly needing refurbishment and e.g. carpet in hallway is in terrible condition (very dirty and torn). The hotel cleaning was moderate and some rooms stale smelling (possibly also due to humidity). We will NOT return to hotel (before refurbishment) ...

Lovely stay and welcome to Cartagena and Colombia. Great service, clean and written as promised. Would go again.

Pros: Liked the layout and amenities. Great restaurant and staff were very nice.

Cons: You kind of have to do everything by taxi because next to the fort there isn’t much there without having to cross a bridge. And a night its not recommended.

Pros: The location was excellent. The room was huge and the bed extremely comfortable. Staff were great and Jose was very professional and very good at his job. Breakfast and the pool was fantastic and the restaurant had great variety of tasty meals.

Great hotel but pool was disappointing

Pros: Very clean. Large rooms. Staff were friendly. Breakfast was great.

Cons: Not enough pool loungers. The picture shows a lot more but there were only 4. They were full every day. We asked for more but were told they had broken and not replaced. The whole pool area could do with being expanded out to allow for more people to use it.

A great comfortable stay

Pros: Breakfast very filling and a good mix of local vs European. Beds extremely comfortable and room had excellent air conditioning. We were given a disabled room which was very dark and had little access to natural light (though had very large shower and lots of long side rails - neither of us needed them but appreciate it is nice for disabled guests.

Cons: The lighting was very minimal, and there was no natural light in the room.

Highly Recommended
